Who is our Dye Lab Chemist?

Our Textile Chemist is ready to join our growing development team and provide technical expertise to our Color laboratory, Dye House, and Finishing Departments. Our Chemist will oversee our dyeing and finishing operations while providing expertise to R&D and Quality, whether for new product development or to resolve quality issues and customer inquiries.

What qualifies you?

  • B.S. degree in Textile Science or Chemistry

  • Minimum 5 years of technical management experience in textiles

  • Expert knowledge of color and textile colorfastness tests

  • Knowledge of warp knit elastic fabrics and warp knit fabric processing a plus

  • Knowledge of narrow woven elastic fabrics and narrow fabric processing a plus

  • Expert understanding of nylon/spandex and polyester/spandex dyeing and finishing required

  • Working knowledge of DataColor Spectrophotometer

  • Understanding dyeing equipment including Jets, A-Beams, P-Beams, Continuous Calender and Continuous Pad/Steam

  • Previous experience in a textile manufacturing or related industry required

  • Expert knowledge of color and textile color fastness tests

  • Knowledge of warp knit elastic fabrics and warp knit fabric processing a plus

  • Knowledge of and diligent attention to federal and local regulatory constraints

  • Computer skills, including familiarity with computer modeling and data analysis

What else will you do?

  • Develop dye and chemical recipes that will satisfy customer requirements and function in a production environment. Key metric for lab performance: “right 1st time" formulations - lab to bulk

  • Support ISO9001:2015 by applying policies and procedures that comply with the department audit requirements.

  • Develop new processes as well as troubleshoot existing processes to improve performance, efficiencies and costs

  • Utilize the Datacolor color computer for dye formula creation and formula correction programs

  • Apply a high sense of urgency when a new or existing product has quality problems. Determine priorities based on orders and accept direction and input as necessary from planning, sales, R&D, QA

  • Lead new product evaluation by working closely with R&D, Finishing and Dyehouse, and remain actively involved in the life of the trial. Provide input to Production for proper sign off on trial

  • Ensure compliance with Government Environmental regulations as they pertain to waste water, air and the dyes and chemicals used. This includes town, state and federal reporting, permit/licensing and compliance

  • Understand regulatory compliance and provide documentation to customers. This would include, but not be limited to, SDS sheets for fabrics produced, RoHS, REACH, CA proposition 65, and AZO dye ban and any technical documents required by sales for customers
